Add capacity without adding headcount

Outsourced accounting for CPA firms from LedgerBPO means named offshore accountants working under your brand, inside your Karbon, TaxDome or Canopy workflow and your clients’ QuickBooks Online or Xero files. White-label bookkeeping, tax-preparation support (your firm reviews and signs), close support and seasonal pods, with IRS section 7216 consent handled up front.

  • Your brand on every deliverable
  • Two-Tier Review on every file
  • §7216 consent handled

Four operating models

01

Task-based

Send us defined work items (bank recs, a client’s monthly books, a batch of returns to prepare). Priced per task or per client. Good for a first pilot.

02

Dedicated pod

Two to ten accountants plus a lead, assigned to your firm, in your hours. Your review notes shape their work over time. Priced per seat.

03

Managed function

We run a whole function, such as all bookkeeping clients under a service line, to your standards, with our team lead accountable for the calendar.

04

Hybrid

A small dedicated core plus seasonal flex for January to April and extension season. Ramp plan agreed with you before the season starts.

How it works

Onboarding a firm pod

Four beats, one fixed calendar. The same sequence runs for a two-person agency and a 12-office practice.

  1. Scope and consent

We map the client list, software, review standards and hours. Section 7216 consent templates go out where tax work is in scope.

    • Engagement terms and DPA signed
    • Access provisioned through your software roles
  2. Pod assigned

Named accountants plus a team lead start on a first batch, mirroring your workpaper style and review notes.

    • Style guide built from your examples
    • Daily stand-up during the first two weeks
  3. Two-Tier Review

Preparer prepares, team lead reviews and signs off, then the file reaches your partner as a finished draft.

    • Review-note rate tracked and reported
    • Turnaround agreed per work type
  4. Scale with the season

Add seats for January to April, keep the core year-round, and see utilisation and turnaround in a weekly report.

    • Ramp plan agreed before busy season
    • Month-to-month seats

Quality control: Two-Tier Review

Every file is prepared by a named accountant and reviewed by a team lead against a checklist built from your firm’s own review notes before it reaches you. Review notes are logged, counted and reported so the rate falls month by month. No file leaves the pod unreviewed.

Section 7216 and confidentiality

Written taxpayer consent is required before tax return information is disclosed to a preparer outside the US. We supply the consent language, track signatures per client, and never sign or e-file. Bookkeeping work without tax return information proceeds under the engagement terms and DPA alone. Details on the compliance page.

Case study

12-person firm, first season with a dedicated pod

Case study

A 12-person CPA firm's first tax season with a dedicated pod

This CPA firm outsourcing case study covers a first tax season with a dedicated pod. A 12-person CPA firm in the western US had grown its business-client list faster than its preparer bench. Each season the partners hired temporary staff, trained them in February and lost them in May. For the following season the firm engaged LedgerBPO for tax preparation support and a dedicated pod: named preparers, a backup and a team lead, working inside the firm's own tax and practice-management software. The pod handled bookkeeping clean-up and first-draft preparation, and the firm's reviewers and signing partners kept every review and every signature. It was the firm's first season with an offshore pod, so the engagement was built around IRS §7216 consent, a written workflow and a weekly status report the partners could rely on.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need IRS section 7216 consent to use you for tax work?

Yes, for any US return where tax return information is disclosed to a preparer outside the United States. We provide consent templates, track which clients have signed, and start on a return only after consent is on file. Bookkeeping work that involves no tax return information does not require it.

Who signs the returns?

Your firm. We prepare workpapers and draft returns inside your tax software; a licensed preparer at your firm reviews and signs. Our staff hold no PTIN and never e-file.

How do you protect client confidentiality?

Access runs through your practice-management and tax software with least-privilege roles, MFA and per-user logs. Staff are background-checked, sign an NDA per firm, and work on managed devices with no local downloads or paper. We sign your engagement terms and a data-processing agreement.

How much review will our partners still do?

Every file passes our Two-Tier Review (preparer plus team lead) before it reaches you, so your partners review a finished file rather than a draft. Firms typically report review time falling as the pod learns their standards; the exact reduction depends on the work.

What hours do your accountants work?

US Eastern and Pacific windows, UK hours and Australian Eastern hours, from our second office in Pakistan and our US base. You choose the window for your pod.

How is firm work priced?

Per seat for dedicated pods, per client for white-label bookkeeping, per return or per hour for tax-preparation support, or a fixed quote for projects. Pricing depends on volume and scope, so we send a custom quote within 1 business day. Pilot terms are agreed in the quote.

Which software do you work in?

Karbon, TaxDome and Canopy for practice management; Drake Tax, Lacerte, UltraTax CS and ProConnect Tax for returns; QuickBooks Online, Xero, Zoho Books and Sage for client books; TaxCalc and IRIS for UK practices; TaxCycle and Xero Tax elsewhere.

Can we start with a pilot?

Yes. A pilot is scoped inside the custom quote, usually a handful of client files or a defined batch of work over one cycle, so you can judge quality before committing seats. Terms are confirmed in writing before we start.
