What is outsourced bookkeeping?
Outsourced bookkeeping means a remote accounting team records, categorizes and reconciles your business transactions instead of an employee doing it in-house. You keep ownership of the accounting file and the bank relationship. The provider works inside your software on a fixed schedule, so the books are ready for reporting, tax and lending whenever you need them.

How it works
-
Discovery call
A 20-minute call to map your entities, bank accounts, software, transaction volume and what the books are for: tax, lending, investors or your own monthly review.
-
Access and chart-of-accounts review
You grant accountant access to your software and read-only bank feeds. We review the chart of accounts and agree a cut-over date and a first-close plan within 48 to 72 hours.
-
Dedicated bookkeeper assigned
A named bookkeeper, a trained backup and a team lead take over the posting. The first month runs in parallel with a full reconciliation of opening balances.
-
Monthly close and report
Every month the bookkeeper closes, the team lead reviews under our Two-Tier Review process, and you receive statements plus a short note on what changed and why.

Bookkeeping for your industry
Case study
2 years of books caught up
Case studyTwo years of catch-up bookkeeping for a contractor before a bank loan
A general contractor in the Mountain West had run for two years on bank balances and a box of receipts. The business was busy, but when the owner applied for an equipment and working-capital loan, the bank asked for two years of financial statements, and the QuickBooks Online file had not been touched since the previous bookkeeper left. The owner engaged LedgerBPO for catch-up bookkeeping, bank reconciliation and financial reporting. A named accountant, a backup and a team lead rebuilt 24 months of books inside the contractor's existing QuickBooks Online file, reconciled every account and prepared the statements the lender asked for. The contractor's CPA reviewed the results and handled the tax returns. LedgerBPO handled the books.

Frequently asked questions
How much does outsourced bookkeeping cost?
Pricing depends on volume and scope, and we send a custom quote within 1 business day. As a market reference, US outsourced bookkeeping generally runs $150 to $1,600 per month, with review-backed plans between $400 and $800 (indinero, 2026). UK fixed fees range from £100 to £1,500 per month, Canada from C$300 to C$2,000, and Australia from A$300 to A$1,500.
Do I have to switch accounting software?
No. We work inside your existing QuickBooks Online, Xero, Zoho Books, Sage or Wave file. You keep ownership of the subscription and the data. If you want to move platforms, our accounting software setup and migration service handles it as a separate project.
Who actually does the work?
A named bookkeeper assigned to your account, supported by a trained backup who covers leave and a team lead who reviews every close. You will know their names and can message them directly through the client portal. We do not use a rotating pool.
How current will my books be?
Books are categorized weekly and closed within five business days of month-end. Businesses with high transaction volume can move to daily posting with our weekly bookkeeping service so the books are never more than two days behind.
What if my books are months behind right now?
We start with a catch-up bookkeeping project to bring the backlog current and reconciled, then move you onto the monthly service. Catch-up is quoted per back month after we review the file.
Is my financial data safe with a remote team?
Access is granted through your software's accountant role and read-only bank feeds where available, so no one on our team can move money. Every login uses MFA, access is logged, and staff work on managed devices with no local downloads. The full control list is on our security page.
Can you work in my time zone?
Yes. Our team covers US Eastern and Pacific hours, UK hours and Australian Eastern hours, so questions are answered during your working day rather than overnight.
Do you prepare my tax return?
We prepare a tax-ready year-end package and hand it to your CPA, accountant or registered agent. For accounting firms we provide tax preparation support under IRS section 7216 consent, and the firm reviews and signs.
