Reports your lender, investor and you will actually read

LedgerBPO's outsourced financial reporting service turns your closed books into a monthly report pack: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement, budget versus actual and a short plain-English commentary. A named dedicated accountant builds the pack inside your QuickBooks Online, Xero or Fathom file, a second accountant reviews it, and it lands by business day 7.

What is outsourced financial reporting?

Outsourced financial reporting means a remote accounting team prepares your periodic financial statements and management reports instead of an in-house controller. The team works from your own accounting file, applies a consistent close and review process, and issues a report pack on a fixed date each month. You keep the data, the software and the decisions.

Who it is for

Owners who get PDFs they do not read

Your bookkeeper sends a P&L, but nobody explains what moved. You want three pages that say what changed, why, and what to watch.

Businesses with a lender or investor

A bank line, SBA loan or outside shareholder means reports on a schedule, in a format someone else defined. Missing a date costs trust.

Multi-location and project businesses

Clinics, agencies and contractors need reports by location, class or job, rolled up into one set of statements that still ties to the bank.

What's included

  • Monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statement from reconciled books
  • Budget versus actual with variances flagged above an agreed threshold
  • Written commentary: what moved, why, and open questions for you
  • Departmental, class, location or project P&L where you code them
  • Trailing twelve-month and prior-year comparisons on every statement
  • Gross margin, operating margin and cash runway shown on one summary page
  • Accrual and prepaid adjustments so months compare fairly
  • Balance sheet reconciliation schedule attached to every pack
  • Fathom, Syft or spreadsheet report templates maintained in your account
  • Quarter-end and year-end packs formatted for your CPA or accountant
  • Lender-format statements when your loan agreement specifies one
  • A 20-minute monthly review call to walk through the pack

How it works

  1. Discovery call

A 20-minute call to learn who reads the reports, what decisions they support, and which formats your lender, board or accountant expects.

  2. Books and template review

We check that the underlying books are reconciled, agree the chart of accounts, and build or tidy the report templates in Fathom, Syft or your accounting software.

  3. First pack in parallel

A named accountant produces the first month's pack alongside your existing reports so you can compare line by line and agree the commentary style.

  4. Monthly cadence

From month two the pack is built on CloseTrack, reviewed under Two-Tier Review, and delivered to the LedgerDesk portal by business day 7 with a review call if you want one.

How much does financial reporting cost?

Financial reporting is priced as a flat monthly fee on top of bookkeeping, based on the number of entities, the reporting dimensions you need (class, location, project) and whether you want a review call. Engagements run month-to-month with no setup fee. Pricing depends on volume and scope, so we send a custom quote within 1 business day.

What moves the quote

  • Number of entities and whether they consolidate
  • Reporting dimensions such as class, location, department or job
  • Whether the books are already reconciled or need a catch-up first
  • Lender or board formats that need a separate template

25-day close to 5-day close

Case study

From a 25-day close to a 5-day close for a marketing agency

A marketing agency on the US West Coast with retainer and project clients was closing its books around the 25th of the following month. By then the numbers were too old to act on. Client profitability was a guess, pass-through media costs were booked when the supplier invoice arrived rather than when the spend ran, and retainer revenue was recognized whenever the invoice went out. The agency engaged LedgerBPO for month-end close, financial reporting and invoicing and billing. A named accountant, a backup and a team lead worked inside the agency's QuickBooks Online, bill-approval tool and time-tracking system. The close moved from 25 days to 5 days, and the founders now review client margins in the first week of the month instead of the last.

Frequently asked questions

How much does outsourced financial reporting cost?

Pricing depends on volume and scope, and we send a custom quote within 1 business day. As a market reference, US bookkeeping plans that include monthly reporting typically run $400 to $800 per month, with all-in plans such as Bookkeeper360 listed at $749 to $874 (indinero, RadCity, 2026). UK management-accounts packages sit inside the £400 to £1,500 monthly range at higher volumes.

What is in a monthly report pack?

A standard pack has a one-page summary, P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement, budget versus actual, and a commentary note. We add departmental or project P&Ls, trailing twelve-month views and a balance sheet tie-out schedule where you need them. Formats are agreed at onboarding and kept stable month to month.

Do you need to do our bookkeeping as well?

No, but the reports are only as good as the books beneath them. If your bookkeeper keeps the ledger reconciled, we build the pack from it. If reconciliations are behind, we recommend a catch-up bookkeeping project first, then reporting from the next full month.

Which reporting tools do you work in?

We build packs in Fathom, Syft, and the native reporting in QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage Intacct and NetSuite. Looker Studio and spreadsheet templates are fine too. We work inside your subscription, so the templates stay yours if you ever leave.

Can you produce reports my bank or lender asks for?

Yes. Many loan agreements specify a statement format, a covenant calculation or a quarterly certificate. We build the template once, produce it each period, and flag any covenant that is trending toward its limit. For board and investor packs see our investor reporting service.

How fast after month-end will I get the pack?

Business day 7 is the standard target once the books are closed under our month-end close service. Businesses that need faster reporting can move to a business-day-5 close and pack, provided bank feeds and documents arrive on time. Quarter-end packs take a day or two longer because of the extra comparisons.

Who writes the commentary?

Your named accountant drafts it and the team lead edits it during review. The note explains each variance above your threshold, lists open questions, and points to anything that needs your decision. It is written in plain English for an owner, not for another accountant.

Do you give an audit opinion or assurance on the statements?

No. We prepare management reports and year-end statements for your use and your tax preparer's use. We give no audit opinions and no legal, tax or investment advice. If you need audited or reviewed statements, our audit support service prepares the schedules your auditor requests.
