Bookkeeping for businesses in England
England carries the largest share of UK SMEs, spanning financial and professional services concentrated around London, advanced manufacturing across the Midlands and North, and a dense retail and hospitality base in every town centre. That mix means bookkeeping has to flex: a Birmingham manufacturer reconciles supplier invoices in sterling against long payment terms, while a Bristol agency chases client retainers and VAT on services. Whatever the sector, the books need the same discipline: bank feeds matched daily, VAT captured correctly under Making Tax Digital, and management figures ready before the quarter closes, without a finance hire on the payroll.

England tax and compliance notes
VAT registration threshold
The UK VAT registration threshold is £90,000 of taxable turnover in a rolling 12-month period. Once registered, businesses file digitally under Making Tax Digital for VAT, with software submitting figures straight to HMRC.
Making Tax Digital for income tax
MTD for income tax becomes mandatory from April 2026 for sole traders and landlords with qualifying income above £50,000, then April 2027 above £30,000, and April 2028 above £20,000, replacing the annual self assessment return with quarterly digital updates.
PAYE, RTI and employer NI
Employers running payroll report pay and deductions to HMRC in real time under RTI, and pay employer national insurance at 15% on earnings above the £5,000 secondary threshold, on top of any pension contributions.
General notes, not advice. Filing is done by you, your CPA, accountant or registered agent; we prepare the workings.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have an office in England?
No, we do not have a local office in England. LedgerBPO is the accounting and billing division of SS Support Network LLC, registered in Vancouver, Washington, with a second office in Pakistan that covers UK business hours live. Your dedicated accountant works remotely inside your own software, so there is no local premises to visit or maintain.
Can you handle my VAT return if my business is based in England?
We prepare VAT workings and draft returns inside your bookkeeping software, reconciled against your sales, purchases and bank feed for the quarter. You or your accountant reviews the draft and submits it to HMRC under Making Tax Digital. Any question about money laundering supervision for your specific return sits with your accountant, not with us.
Do you work with businesses anywhere in England, not just the big cities?
Yes. Because the work is done remotely inside your own software, location within England makes no difference to how we deliver bookkeeping, invoicing or reporting. We support SMEs in market towns and rural areas as readily as those in Manchester or London, on the same UK-hours coverage.
