What is different in Australia
Payroll in Australia runs on Single Touch Payroll Phase 2, which reports gross pay, tax and super to the ATO from every pay run, and from 1 July 2026 the Payday Super reform requires super to be paid within days of pay day rather than the old quarterly deadline. State-based payroll tax also applies once wages in a state pass its threshold, and the threshold and rate vary by state. Xero Payroll and MYOB cover most small Australian employers, with KeyPay, part of Employment Hero, common for businesses with awards and complex rostering. Pay runs are prepared in AUD for your approval; we never release funds ourselves. Queries are answered inside AEST hours from our second office in Pakistan.
AU rules that shape the work
Payday Super from 1 July 2026
Superannuation guarantee must be paid within days of pay day rather than quarterly once Payday Super takes effect on 1 July 2026. We build the pay run and the super payment into the same cycle so the new deadline is never missed.
Single Touch Payroll Phase 2
Every pay run reports gross pay, tax withheld and super information to the ATO through STP Phase 2. We check the pay event lodges correctly before moving to the next cycle, so year-end finalisation is a formality, not a rebuild.
Payroll tax varies by state
Once your total wages in a state cross its threshold, state payroll tax applies at a rate and threshold that differ from every other state and territory. We track wages by state so a growing multi-state employer sees the liability coming.
PAYG withholding feeds the BAS, not us
PAYG withholding from payroll is reported through the BAS, and we reconcile it to the payroll register and hand it to your TPB-registered BAS agent or accountant. LedgerBPO never lodges BAS.

Frequently asked questions
How much does payroll processing outsourcing cost in Australia?
Pricing depends on volume and scope, so we send a custom quote within 1 business day. As a market reference, Australian bookkeepers charge A$40 to A$100 per hour, fixed-fee plans for small payroll runs sit around A$850 to A$1,800 a month for 1 to 5 staff, and registered BAS agents charge A$75 to A$150 per hour (Australian bookkeeping fee surveys, 2026).
Do you lodge our BAS or process our super payments?
We prepare the pay run, reconcile PAYG withholding and superannuation, and hand a BAS workpaper to your TPB-registered BAS agent or accountant to review and lodge. LedgerBPO never lodges BAS. Super payments are released through your own clearing house or fund; we never move the money ourselves.
Do you cover AEST hours?
Yes. Our payroll team overlaps Australian Eastern Standard Time from our second office in Pakistan, so an employee pay query or an approval question is answered inside your business day rather than overnight.
What changes with Payday Super on 1 July 2026?
Superannuation guarantee will have to be paid within days of pay day instead of by the old quarterly deadline. We are building this into every client's pay cycle now, matching super paid to super accrued each run so the transition does not create a shortfall.
Which payroll software do you support?
Xero Payroll and MYOB cover most of our Australian payroll work, and KeyPay, part of Employment Hero, suits businesses with awards, penalty rates and complex rostering. We work as a preparer inside your existing subscription; the employer keeps the payroll account and the legal responsibility.
