What is different in United Kingdom

Credit control is the standard UK term for managing what customers owe, and it usually sits inside finance rather than a separate collections team. The Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act gives every business the right to add statutory interest and a fixed compensation charge to an overdue commercial invoice, and construction contracts add their own retention and application-for-payment rules on top. Large companies must publish how quickly they pay smaller suppliers twice a year, so a customer's payment record is sometimes public before you even chase them. Xero, QuickBooks Online and Chaser cover most of our UK credit control clients, with a named controller working UK hours from our second office in Pakistan to keep the weekly cycle on track.

UK rules that shape the work

Statutory interest and compensation

The Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act allows interest and a fixed compensation charge on overdue invoices, which we calculate and add to chasing letters when you decide to apply it.

Retentions in construction accounts

Construction customers often withhold a retention against an application for payment, and we track what is due for release separately from ordinary overdue invoices.

Payment practice reporting

Large UK companies must publish payment performance data twice a year, so a slow-paying customer's history is sometimes checked before deciding how hard to chase.

Software for chasing and statements

Chaser automates statement and reminder sequences on top of Xero or QuickBooks Online, and we agree the cadence and tone with you before any sequence goes live.

Frequently asked questions

How much does credit control outsourcing cost in the UK?

Pricing depends on volume and scope, so we send a custom quote within 1 business day. As a UK benchmark, credit control and bookkeeping support typically runs £20 to £55 per hour, with fixed fees of £100 to £1,500 per month (UK provider pricing surveys, 2026). Account volume and chasing channels move the quote.

Do you submit our VAT return or accounts?

No. Credit control manages customer accounts and cash coming in, not tax filings. Receipts feed into your bookkeeping as usual, and you or your accountant remains responsible for reviewing and submitting the VAT return and annual accounts to HMRC and Companies House.

Do you cover UK hours?

Yes. Your credit controller works from our second office in Pakistan on a schedule built around UK office hours, so statement runs, reminders and calls land at the times a UK customer expects to hear from you, not overnight.

Can you run credit checks on new customers?

Yes. New accounts are checked through Creditsafe or the bureau you already use, and we record trade references and director details alongside the report. We recommend a limit and terms under your policy, and the final decision to open the account stays with you.

Will you claim statutory late payment interest from our customers?

We can calculate the interest and compensation the law allows and include it in a chasing letter, but whether to actually apply it to a customer relationship is a commercial decision for you, and we do not give legal advice on enforcing it.
