What is different in Australia
Payment processor reconciliation in Australia has an extra layer most markets do not: working out how much GST was actually collected on each sale once a payout nets off processor fees, refunds and, for overseas platforms, GST the platform itself may have already remitted under the low-value import rules. Xero and MYOB both connect to Stripe and Shopify feeds, though the mapping needs checking so GST is posted at gross rather than buried inside a net deposit. Figures are converted to AUD where a payout arrives in another currency, with the exchange difference posted separately. A named accountant runs the exception log weekly under our ReconBot workflow. Questions raised during the Australian day are answered inside AEST hours from our second office in Pakistan.
AU rules that shape the work
GST on payouts and overseas platforms
A payout nets off processor fees and refunds before it lands, so GST has to be posted at gross from the settlement report, not the deposit. Where an overseas marketplace has already collected GST on low-value imports, we separate that from GST you owe yourself.
Payout data under APP 8
Sales and payout data reviewed by our second office in Pakistan is handled under Australian Privacy Principle 8 for cross-border disclosure, with the same access controls and logging applied there as everywhere else.
We reconcile, your BAS agent lodges
GST recovered from payout reconciliation is handed to your TPB-registered BAS agent or accountant as part of the BAS workpaper. LedgerBPO never lodges BAS.
Reconciled inside Xero or MYOB
We reconcile payouts inside your existing Xero or MYOB file rather than a separate spreadsheet, so your accountant and your BAS agent see the same numbers you do, in AUD, with the GST split visible.

Frequently asked questions
How much do Stripe reconciliation services cost in Australia?
Pricing depends on volume and scope, so we send a custom quote within 1 business day. As a market reference, fixed-fee bookkeeping for online sellers in Australia runs A$300 to A$1,500 per month, bookkeepers charge A$40 to A$100 per hour, and registered BAS agents charge A$75 to A$150 per hour (Australian bookkeeping fee surveys, 2026). Channel count sets the final quote.
Do you lodge our BAS?
No. We reconcile GST recovered from Stripe, Shopify and marketplace payouts and prepare a BAS workpaper for your TPB-registered BAS agent or accountant, who reviews and lodges it with the ATO. LedgerBPO never lodges BAS itself.
Do you cover AEST hours?
Yes. Our reconciliation team overlaps Australian Eastern Standard Time from our second office in Pakistan, so a question about a mismatched payout or a reserve balance is answered during your business day.
Why does GST on my payouts never match my sales report?
Because a payout is net of processor fees, refunds and sometimes marketplace-collected GST on overseas sales, so the deposit and the sales report rarely agree at face value. We break each payout back into gross sales, GST, fees and refunds so the correct GST figure reaches your BAS.
Do you handle multi-currency Stripe or Shopify payouts?
Yes. Payouts received in a foreign currency are converted to AUD at the rate the processor applied, and the difference between the sale-date rate and payout rate is posted to exchange gain or loss. Foreign-currency balances are reconciled to the processor's own report each month.
