What is different in Australia
Month-end close in Australia has to line up with the BAS cycle, because GST, PAYG withholding and PAYG instalments are reported through the same lodgment your close is preparing for. From 1 July 2026 the shift to Payday Super means the superannuation guarantee has to be paid with each pay run rather than accrued and settled quarterly, so the close now reconciles a liability that moves every cycle instead of once a quarter. Xero and MYOB both support a formal period lock once reconciliations are reviewed. Statements are issued in AUD, and the close calendar is usually set to finish before the BAS due date rather than a fixed calendar day. Questions are answered inside AEST hours from our second office in Pakistan.
AU rules that shape the work
PAYG withholding and instalments at close
Each close reconciles PAYG withholding on wages and any PAYG instalment against the ledger, so the numbers on the BAS or instalment notice match what was posted. Variances are flagged before the period is locked, not discovered afterwards.
Close calendar tracks BAS due dates
Because GST and PAYG figures feed the BAS, our close calendar is set to finish ahead of the relevant ATO due date rather than an arbitrary day of the month, so your BAS agent always has current numbers to lodge from.
Close prepares, your BAS agent lodges
The close produces the reconciled GST and PAYG figures as a BAS workpaper for your TPB-registered BAS agent or accountant. LedgerBPO never lodges BAS on your behalf.
Payday Super from 1 July 2026
Superannuation guarantee must be paid with each pay run rather than quarterly from 1 July 2026, so the close reconciles a super liability that turns over every pay cycle instead of once a quarter, and any shortfall is flagged immediately.

Frequently asked questions
How much does month end close outsourcing cost in Australia?
Pricing depends on volume and scope, so we send a custom quote within 1 business day. As a market reference, fixed-fee bookkeeping and close packages in Australia typically run A$300 to A$1,500 per month, bookkeepers charge A$40 to A$100 per hour, and registered BAS agents charge A$75 to A$150 per hour (Australian bookkeeping fee surveys, 2026). Entity count and reporting depth set the quote.
Do you lodge our BAS?
No. The close reconciles the GST and PAYG figures that go into the BAS and hands the workpaper to your TPB-registered BAS agent or accountant, who reviews and lodges with the ATO. LedgerBPO never lodges BAS itself.
Do you cover AEST hours?
Yes. Our close team overlaps Australian Eastern Standard Time from our second office in Pakistan, so a question about an accrual or a super liability is answered during your working day rather than the next morning.
How does Payday Super change the close?
From 1 July 2026, superannuation guarantee has to be paid with each pay run instead of quarterly, so the close now reconciles the super liability every cycle rather than once a quarter. We match super paid to super accrued at each close and flag any shortfall before the period locks.
Will the close finish before our BAS is due?
That is the aim. We set the close calendar to finish ahead of the relevant ATO lodgment date so your BAS agent works from current, reconciled numbers rather than a rushed estimate. The exact calendar depends on when your bank feeds and payroll reports arrive.
