What is different in Australia

Invoicing in Australia has rules bookkeeping elsewhere does not: a tax invoice over $82.50 including GST must show the seller's ABN, the GST amount or a GST-inclusive statement, and the words 'tax invoice'. Company invoices often carry both the ABN and the ACN. Xero remains the most common invoicing platform among Australian small businesses, with MYOB a close second, and both handle recurring, progress and milestone billing well. Invoices are issued in AUD, and GST-free or input-taxed sales need separate treatment so the BAS reconciles cleanly at quarter-end. Because a missing ABN or GST line can see a customer reject an invoice for payment, our specialists check every field before it goes out. Questions raised during the Australian business day are answered from our second office in Pakistan, inside AEST hours.

AU rules that shape the work

ABN and ACN on every invoice

Australian tax invoices must show the seller's ABN, and company invoices commonly add the ACN as well. We check both fields, plus your customer's ABN where you claim GST credits on their end, before an invoice leaves the queue.

The $82.50 tax invoice rule

Any sale over $82.50 including GST must be issued as a compliant tax invoice showing the GST amount or a GST-inclusive statement. Below that threshold a simpler invoice is enough, and we apply the right format automatically by sale value.

We prepare, your BAS agent lodges

Invoicing feeds the GST figures on your BAS, so we reconcile invoiced GST to the ledger and hand workpapers to your TPB-registered BAS agent or accountant. LedgerBPO never lodges BAS itself.

Xero and MYOB templates

Most Australian invoicing runs through Xero or MYOB, and we build or tidy your invoice templates in whichever file you use rather than asking you to adopt a billing tool of our own.

What's included

  • Invoice creation from time sheets, job sheets, sales orders or contracts
  • Recurring invoice schedules for retainers, maintenance plans and memberships
  • Progress, milestone and retention billing for project work
  • Credit notes, re-bills and corrections with a reason logged
  • Sales tax, VAT or GST applied by customer and product rules
  • Purchase-order numbers and customer references captured before sending
  • E-invoicing through customer portals, Peppol networks or your payment link
  • Invoice delivery by email with PDF and payment link attached
  • Bounced-email and delivery-failure follow-up the same day
  • Customer master data kept current: contacts, terms, billing addresses
  • Daily invoice register showing what was billed and what is pending
  • Monthly billed-versus-delivered check against your job or order system

Frequently asked questions

How much do outsourced invoicing services cost in Australia?

Pricing depends on volume and scope, so we send a custom quote within 1 business day. As a market reference, Australian bookkeeping and billing support runs A$40 to A$100 per hour, fixed-fee packages sit between A$300 and A$1,500 per month, and registered BAS agents charge A$75 to A$150 per hour (Australian bookkeeping fee surveys, 2026). Invoice volume and billing complexity move the quote.

Do you lodge our BAS?

No. We reconcile invoiced sales and GST to your ledger and prepare BAS workpapers for your TPB-registered BAS agent or accountant, who reviews and lodges with the ATO. LedgerBPO never lodges BAS. Keeping invoicing data clean during the month is what makes that lodgment straightforward for your agent.

Do you cover AEST hours?

Yes. Our billing specialists overlap Australian Eastern Standard Time from our second office in Pakistan, so a query about a rejected invoice or a GST line gets a same-day answer during your working hours, not an overnight wait.

Do my invoices need to show an ABN?

Yes, on every tax invoice over $82.50 including GST, along with the GST amount or a clear GST-inclusive statement. Company invoices usually show the ACN as well. We build this into your invoice template so the right fields appear automatically, whichever sale triggers the invoice.

Which software do you invoice from in Australia?

Xero and MYOB cover most of our Australian invoicing work, and we also invoice from QuickBooks Online where clients use it. You keep the subscription and the customer data; we work inside your existing templates rather than moving billing to a system of our own.
