# A2X bookkeeping and accounting, done for you

A2X bookkeeping services from LedgerBPO give e-commerce sellers a named accountant who sets up and maintains your A2X account mapping, reviews every settlement summary before it posts to QuickBooks Online or Xero, matches each posted summary to the bank deposit, and reconciles the clearing accounts A2X uses so Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy and Walmart sales are right every month.

## Why businesses on A2X outsource

A2X does one thing well: it turns a marketplace settlement into a summary journal or invoice that posts to the ledger. It does not decide where each line should go, notice when Amazon introduces a new fee type, or match the posted summary to the bank deposit. Sellers who set it up once and forget it end up with unmapped lines in suspense, summaries posted twice after a reconnection, and clearing accounts that have never balanced.

A dedicated accountant treats A2X as a tool that needs a driver. We build the mapping by fee type and tax, review each summary before or after it posts, match it to the bank, and reconcile the clearing account to the marketplace balance every month. When A2X flags a new transaction type, we map it the same week.

## What we do inside A2X

### Account and tax mapping

We map every A2X transaction type, sales, refunds, referral fees, FBA fees, advertising, reimbursements, reserves and tax, to the right ledger account and tax rate, and keep it current as marketplaces add fee types.

### Settlement summary review

Before or after each summary posts, we check the totals against the marketplace settlement report and confirm the split between sales, fees and tax is right.

### Bank matching

Each posted summary is matched to its bank deposit in QuickBooks Online or Xero, with reserve and pending amounts explained, so the bank feed stays clean.

### Clearing account reconciliation

The clearing account A2X posts to is reconciled to the marketplace balance, including reserves and unsettled funds, at every month-end.

### Multi-channel and multi-currency

Where A2X connects to Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy or Walmart across several marketplaces and currencies, we keep a clearing account per channel and post conversion differences.

### Cost of goods sold through A2X

Where you use A2X's COGS feature, we load and maintain unit costs so cost of goods sold posts with each settlement and gross margin is reliable.

## Integrations we reconcile

- **[QuickBooks Online](https://ledgerbpo.com/software/quickbooks-online/)** Settlement summaries posted as invoices or journals, clearing accounts and bank matches.
- **[Xero](https://ledgerbpo.com/software/xero/)** Summaries posted as invoices and matched to the bank feed, clearing accounts reconciled monthly.
- **[Amazon Seller Central](https://ledgerbpo.com/software/amazon-seller-central/)** Settlement reports summarized by A2X, checked by us against the original report and reserve.
- **[Shopify](https://ledgerbpo.com/software/shopify/)** Shopify Payments payouts summarized by A2X, with other gateways handled separately.
- **[Stripe](https://ledgerbpo.com/software/stripe/)** Stripe payouts summarized where A2X is used for direct-to-consumer stores.
- **[PayPal](https://ledgerbpo.com/software/paypal/)** PayPal orders from marketplaces reconciled alongside A2X summaries to avoid double counting.

## Migration to and from A2X

### Moving to A2X

Setting up A2X starts with the chart of accounts. We create the clearing account, fee, refund, reimbursement and tax accounts, connect the marketplace and the ledger, build the mapping for every transaction type, and post the first settlements with a full check against the settlement report. Historic settlements can be posted in a batch if the back months need cleaning.

### Moving from A2X

Moving from A2X to Link My Books or manual settlement journals starts with the last posted summary. We confirm every settlement up to the switch date has posted once and matched to the bank, reconcile the clearing account to the marketplace balance, export the mapping so it can be rebuilt, and disconnect A2X only after the new method has posted its first settlement correctly.

## Common A2X reconciliation problems we fix

1. ### Unmapped lines sitting in suspense
A new Amazon fee or a new Shopify charge appears and A2X parks it in an unmapped account. We review the mapping every month and clear anything in suspense.
2. ### Summaries posted twice
A reconnection or a manual re-send can post the same settlement twice, doubling sales. We check for duplicate summaries by settlement ID before matching to the bank.
3. ### Clearing account never reconciled
A2X posts to a clearing account, but the deposit in the bank rarely equals the summary because of reserves and timing. We reconcile the clearing account to the marketplace balance so every difference is explained.
4. ### Tax mapped to the wrong rate
Marketplace facilitator tax, seller-collected tax and VAT on fees each need a different treatment. We map them separately so the tax return workings match what was collected and remitted.
5. ### Settlement split across month-end
A settlement that spans two months needs its sales split by date. We use A2X's month-end split setting so each month carries its own sales and fees.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do you work inside my existing A2X account?

Yes. You add us as a user in your own A2X account, or your accountant grants access from their partner dashboard. You keep ownership of the A2X subscription, the marketplace connection and the ledger. We maintain the mapping, review and post summaries, and reconcile; the settings and connections stay yours.

### How much does A2X bookkeeping support cost?

Pricing depends on volume and scope, so we send a custom quote within 1 business day. The main drivers are settlements and channels per month, how many marketplaces and currencies you sell in, whether COGS is in scope, and whether sales tax or VAT workings and monthly bookkeeping are part of the same engagement.

### Does A2X replace a bookkeeper?

No. A2X posts summaries; it does not decide where lines belong, catch duplicates, or match the summary to the bank. Those steps are what keep the ledger right. Our ecommerce accounting service explains how A2X fits into the monthly process.

### How do you handle Amazon reserves in A2X?

A2X posts the reserve movement as part of each settlement summary. We map it to a reserve receivable, not to sales or fees, and reconcile that receivable to the reserve shown in Seller Central each month. When Amazon releases the reserve, the receivable clears against the deposit.

### Can you set up A2X for multiple marketplaces and currencies?

Yes. Each marketplace and currency gets its own A2X connection and clearing account, with mapping set for the local tax treatment. Conversion differences are posted so the clearing accounts balance in your reporting currency. Our payment processor reconciliation service covers the monthly tie-out.

### Can you fix an A2X setup that has posted to the wrong accounts for months?

Yes. We scope it as a cleanup: review the mapping, identify the periods affected, reverse or reclassify the posted summaries, check for duplicates, and reconcile each clearing account to the marketplace balance. Then the account moves to the monthly review service.
